Beautiful winter light with a trace of frost still on the ground. Ideal photographic conditions so I went out with my camera and took a few shots. Seven of my favourites have been added to the "Urban Sanctuary" portfolio.

I've just added a few photographs of the city centre at Christmas. Not my best efforts but a splash of seasonal colour. I felt very self-conscious standing there with camera and tripod surrounded by the Xmas revellers as they did their last minute shopping, stumbled out of the pubs or enjoyed the fairground.

The December photo has been uploaded. Two months to go and my year long project will be completed. A nice frost and a snowfall would be good to round off the series!

I've just got back from a business trip in Chicago. I hope to add some new photographs to my galleries pretty soon and may create a new Christmas portfolio.

Several new seasonal photographs added to "Urban Sanctuary". And a switch of photographs for November in my "Fence Posts" portfolio. Lovely light this morning and a much more autumnal image.

This month's addition had now been uploaded to my Fence Post portfolio in "Nature on the Doorstep". I started this project in March so now only three months to go until completion!

"October" has been added to my Fence Post portfolio plus a couple of extras in Urban Sanctuary.

I've just returned from the Galapagos Islands, a wildlife photographers heaven. Not "Iconic-Cardiff" but I've posted a fairly random sample of photographs from my collection.

New low light photographs added to my Llandaff gallery ………..

I was invited to enter a competition to take photographs from the top floor of the Radisson Blu, the tallest hotel in Cardiff. It was a great opportunity to add an aerial perspective to my portfolio: "From the Top" in my City gallery.

Today I've added new photographs to "The City" gallery: St Marys Street, the arcades and the farmer's market.

My final preparations took less time than predicted so I've decided to go live now!

For the next two days Cardiff and Newport are hosting the NATO summit. Security is amazing. Cardiff City centre and the Bay are surrounded by a ring of steel and there are extra policemen on duty from all around the UK. At the moment it is all very good natured, I haven't seen any signs of the expected protestors as yet.

Several warships including HMS Duncan have arrived in Cardiff Bay and I've added a few photographs. It was impossible to get a vantage point clear of the security fencing so I've deliberately included this in my shots to give a real sense of what the security measures are like. Surprisingly, there was totally unrestricted access to Mermaid Quay so I've added a few evening photographs of this area as well.

I'm now nearly ready to launch. I need to add a few more photographs to my Town and Around portfolio and tweak a couple of the settings. I'll also get some friends and family to "test drive" the site before I go live online. I'm soon off to the Galapagos Islands for three weeks for a wildlife and photographic adventure so I'll unveil Iconic-Cardiff when I get back, probably around 10th October. Looking forward to my first hits!

I've been working on this site for a couple of weeks now and it's coming along. I plan to go fully live in the middle of October.
